In about an hours time, I have to stand up in front of approximately 800 people and make a speech about My Experience as an ALT at Kakogawa Kita High School. In Japanese. I am really nervous.
I just had a class with my second year students, they are so cool. Its a class with all girls, so no one is shy or worried about making fool of themselves, which is a welcome relief because in most of my classes the students are too afraid to speak up or out, and won't answer questions in front of the class. Which makes language teaching a little bit hard... but in this class its hard to get them to shut up speaking English (not that I would ever tell them to shut up if they were speaking English!!!!!).
Read an interesting article about how Japan is "drowning" under a sea of lost items. People handing in stuff that they have found is ridiculous. Apparently, approximately 7 million umbrellas are handed in annually. Japanese people are not only incredibly honest, it seems, but incredibly forgetful.
So hopefully if I stuff up my speech badly, it will be forgotten by tomorrow.
